First United Methodist  Preschool / MDO 

The Preschool/MDO program is designed to prepare persons for continuing in the school system with positive Christian learning experiences.  High quality curriculum and instruction, and adjustment to society within a Christian environment.  This program provides an
outreach into the community.  It provides multi-sensory experiences which help give direction the development of acceptable behavior patterns in young children and establish meaningful relationships with other children.  This Church Program provides an atmosphere of Christian caring for the child in his or her social, mental, physical, emotional and spiritual needs.  The child's total growth and development is the paramount purpose of the leadership.  This program is an extension of the First United Methodist Church of Edmond, which cares for the community.

Our program is a nine month program that runs in conjunction with the Edmond Public School calendar.  We offer Mother's Day Out for children 12 months up through 3 years.  Our Preschool classes begin at 3 years and continue through 5 years.  Extended Day is offered for
an additional fee, in addition to Preschool classes if the family wishes to participate.

Curriculum
Our curriculum is geared to learning concepts that will aid the child in kindergarten and first grade.  These concepts are arranged in units of study comprised of the following areas:  music, art, fine and gross motor development, cooking/nutrition, self-concepts/social attitudes, awareness of all types of environment, and basic language learning skills:  letters, numbers, shapes, colors, etc. All these areas of learning are developmentally appropriate and designed to stimulate and enhance the child's beginning educational training.
